Reduce the costs of workplace injuries!

THERE IS NO DOUBT ABOUT IT...

The supervisor is the key! When it comes to assisting injured workers in their efforts to return to work (RTW), the supervisor holds the cards. The attitude and abilities of the supervisor may encourage injured workers in
their efforts to return to work, or may serve as a serious road-block to
their recovery. If a supervisor shows an interest in the injured employee, maintains contact during the recovery period, and assists in providing meaningful transitional work programs (TWP), the chances of an early
and successful return to work are increased.

On the other hand, if the supervisor appears to be irritated and inconvenienced by the workers' absence, if s/he ignores the injured worker, and/or if s/he resists all reasonable attempts to allow the worker to return to his/her job, then the chances of a successful return are decreased.

While most supervisors are placed in their managerial position as a result of personal skills and on-the-job accomplishments, it is rare to find that they have specific training in the management of injured workers. Because of the critical role following a work-related injury or illness, it is imperative that each supervisor be properly trained in this vital area. The WORK Ability Management Supervisor Training Program is specifically designed to address this issue.
